"It’s a place where the soul and spirit of the young, bright-eyed Mark Candelaria, with a full head of hair, dreams and aspirations, still lives and walks through the piñon gazing at the endless horizon framed by the red rocks of Sedona."

Take a look at this beautiful resort and all the logistics and creativity that went into bringing it to life.

Remodel in Phoenix Home & Garden's "Smaller Spaces" Issue

On stands now, Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine’s August issue features “Smaller Spaces: Making Every Square Foot Count”. Our featured PV home is only 2,410 sq. feet and was remodeled and reimagined inside and out by Mark Candelaria and Tim Mathewson into a floor plan that really opened up the cramped, outdated design and mixed timeless elements with organic materials.

"Over the Top Outdoor Spaces" in Scottsdale Lifestyle Magazine June, 2020

Take a look at this epic 20,000+ square foot home featuring a resort-style pool, European fountains and a giant moat in the middle of the desert in the current print and online issue of Scottsdale Lifestyle Magazine here.

This Silverleaf estate was created for a couple who were concerned about their cats escaping and local wildlife entering. During a meeting to discuss options, Candelaria proposed a moat. This moat extends the entire backyard at different levels. The negative edge pool is at house level and spills into the moat three feet down. The moat wall then descends another six feet into the desert and is six feet wide. The moat acts as an organic element amidst a formal setting, as it meanders along the desert.

"Building and designing a home is a very personal experience. Our clients become friends with the iron guy, the stucco guy -- your house is special and you want the people working on it to feel it is special as well. It's that synergistic effort -- the workers in turn will help you if something goes wrong because they are part of the family. Especially with what is going on in the world right now, we really appreciate our homes that much more."

This estate was a collaborative effort with Landscape Architect Jeff Berghoff and Builder Schultz Development Corporation.

Wall Street Journal: Candelaria Design Home Scores Second Highest AZ Price Record

WallStreetJournal-Clemmensen.png

A gated Arizona estate with its own soccer field has sold for $17.5 million. That is just shy of the $19.25 million record generated late last year by the sale of Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver’s estate nearby.

This just-sold estate, which came on the market last fall asking $21 million, went into contract in February, before the coronavirus outbreak was in the headlines. Joan Levinson, the listing agent, said it wasn’t clear how the pandemic would affect the affluent Paradise Valley market, which has been strong in recent months, especially for new homes.

In addition to the soccer field, the nearly 5-acre property has views of Camelback Mountain and includes a sunken tennis court, a basketball court, a 75-foot lap pool and a guesthouse, according to the listing.

The property includes nearly 16,000 square feet with six bedrooms across the main house and guest house. The main house has paneled walls and walnut flooring. It also contains a large game room with billiards, a library and a copper bar as well as a wine room.

The seller was Larry P. Clemmensen, records show. Mr. Clemmensen is the former president of the Capital Group, an investment firm. He bought the site in 2007 for $8.8 million, records show. The house was built in 2010, according to the listing.
