Storybook Style - A Whimsical Estate in Yuma, AZ

The winter edition of Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine features one of the most “magical” houses we’ve ever designed. Homeowner Jane recalls, “When we were planning this house, I knew there needed to be a surprise around every corner. A home should exude happiness—and I wanted to look up and down and see something new all the time.”

“When Jane and her husband Troy, a produce farmer, decided to build their house on a piece of land in the middle of their Yuma farm field, her fictitious mouse friend Philoneous was part of the design inspiration, helped along by Jane’s artistic talents. The resulting 14,000-square-foot, five-bedroom home resembles a gracious Italian villa, surrounded by lush gardens. Inside, the warm and cozy interior is filled with Jane’s artwork and frescoes, plus rich millwork that displays collections of everything from religious iconography to ceramics. There’s also a sumptuous built-in mouse house for Philoneous, pictured below.

Winner of 2019 Sub-Zero Southwest Kitchen Design Contest

Three winners were announced today by the Sub-Zero Group Southwest for advancing outstanding kitchen designs in their 2019 Kitchen Design Contest. All entries were critiqued on the innovative use of space, application of Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances and overall design in a blind judging by two design professionals from Sub-Zero Group West Southern California region: Caren Rideau | The Kitchen Design Group and Debbie Nasetta | Roomscapes.

Candelaria Design Associates received the award along with Nomad Design and London Pierce Design. Candelaria Design, in concert with Subzero Group Southwest, are proud to be donating their prize to Habitat for Humanity Central AZ at their annual Blueprints & Bluejeans event set for Fall 2020! 

Phoenix Home & Garden features Candelaria Design in the January 2020 Issue

Situated near the base of Mummy Mountain in Paradise Valley, this 1980’s built home was dated by its discordant Tuscan-colored interior walls, a sunken living room and a closed floor plan. Candelaria Design was proud to be the architect for the HGTV Smart Home 2017 located right here in Scottsdale, Arizona! Mark Candelaria, AIA and Candelaria Design Project Manager, Damon Wake, along with Scottsdale builder, Jim Audiss, of Eagle Luxury Properties, designed and built this home in less than 6 months. We thank Jim Audiss along with the entire crew of HGTV for giving us the opportunity to be a part of this fantastic project.
