Record Breaking $40.2 million Home Sale

Luxury living in Arizona has reached a new level with this record breaking $40.2 million dollar home sale last month. We designed this sprawling 21k square foot estate in two phases - phase one was a spectacular spec home purchased near completion. ⁠

When the lot next door came up for sale, the new homeowners purchased that as well and decided to design a resort-like addition to the main home. This included a 2-bedroom guest house, separate casita, fitness center, wellness spa and salon, an indoor go-kart track, shooting range, 18-car garage and entertainment spaces. ⁠

This home and record breaking sale have been featured by numerous media outlets and is the first time an Arizona home has made Redfin's Top 10 biggest monthly home sales. ⁠

The team behind City Lifestyle Magazines interviewed Architect Mark Candelaria and seller's agent Katrina Barrett to learn more about what makes a $40 Million dollar home. Put simply, "Square footage, lot size, along with exceptional views, privacy and world-class amenities are what separate it," says Katrina. According to Mark, (the price of a) "home is defined by the value one attributes to the experience and they way they want to live in their home." ⁠

Santa Barbara-Style Remodel

Purchased in 2016, the clients waited until 2020 to start the remodel process, when timing and finances aligned. Little did they know that a worldwide pandemic would cause significant material inflation and supply shortages throughout the remodel. However, their home needed not only aesthetic changes but also mechanical, electrical, plumbing and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, so they moved forward despite the challenges.

The team and the clients shared a similar vision: to enhance the home’s original Spanish and Santa Barbara undertones while modernizing functionality by opening up outdated rooms and eliminating older features throughout. The overall vision was to create a home that felt calm, grounded and enduring, and would evolve with the family over time.

Modern Art Amongst the Pines

This contemporary mountain home we designed in Flagstaff, AZ is featured in an 8 page spread in Iconic Life Magazine’s new Mountain Collection issue. The clients wanted a summer home that both looked like and acts as a modern art museum for their personal collection. Mark Candelaria worked closely with the clients, builder and his interior designer wife Isabel Dellinger-Candelaria to create a modern mountain home where they were surrounded by both natural and created art.

Set on 2.3 acres, this 25,000-square-foot Paradise Valley home blends modern restraint, European influence and indoor-outdoor living—crafted for both grand entertaining and everyday life. A a deeply collaborative vision between architectural director Mark Candelaria of Candelaria Design Associates and principal interior designer Isabel Dellinger Candelaria of Earth &Images, plus a family of five intent on creating something both spectacular and sincerely livable.

Mark & Tiffany Candelaria traveled to Orlando last week to attend the 2026 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) and to receive a few awards at the Best In American Living Awards ceremony!

This is the largest Builders’ Show with over 81k building professionals and nearly 2k exhibitors. Over the three days we had the chance to visit many of the companies booth’s we currently work with and learn about many new companies and products as well!

The culminating event was the BALA Awards celebrating the best in multi-family and custom home building and design across North America. Candelaria Design took home Gold for Best Primary Suite and Silver for two homes in the Best Custom Home 10,000+ sf categories! It was a great night networking with other top builders and architects and showing off our team’s hard work - congrats to all!

Our favorite Santa Barbara-inspired Family Farm in Paradise Valley is featured in the October/Nov issue of Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine out now. This 8,500sf home is set on 5 acres in the heart of Paradise Valley and has space for the whole family, friends and animals to gather. The article is aptly titles Farm & Table as the entire home was designed with animals and entertaining in mind.

The couple wanted a home where their friends and pets could all come hangout and not have to worry about the home getting wrecked. They also wanted a barn out back to house goats, chickens and pigs and a pond with ducks. In addition, the backyard also has a resort-style pool, spa and pavilion, a large outdoor dining and living area, outdoor kitchen, putting green, firepit and plenty of lawn space.

Mark spent a few days in Las Vegas last week to attend the 2025 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) and to receive a few awards at the Best In American Living Awards ceremony!

This year was the largest Builders’ Show in 17 years, with over 81k building professionals and 1.8k exhibitors. The Convention Center spans 2,500,000 sqft. and Mark racked up over 40,000 steps in three days! Mark would like to send a special thank you to Tim Walker of Marvin Windows for providing him a ticket to the convention.

Top Valley Chefs Grill & Serve Steaks to the Homeless

Top Valley Chefs, including Archi-chef Mark Candelaria arrived early on a January morning for the annual birthday celebration for Muhammad Ali at St. Vincent DePaul @svdpaz. Their mission is to grill steaks, donated from from @domsteak, and serve nearly 1250 homeless people during this annual celebration. This was Mark & Tiffany’s second year participating in this incredibly heartwarming event that feeds our hungry neighbors.
